# What is Mikhmon and How Does It Manage MikroTik Hotspots?

> Mikhmon manages MikroTik HotSpot accounts, creates vouchers, prepares printed cards, and reads reports. The router runs the hotspot; Mikhmon manages it and is not a RADIUS server.

## Steps

1. Set up HotSpot on the MikroTik first. Mikhmon does not replace initial network configuration in Winbox.
2. Read account totals and active sessions on the dashboard, then open Hotspot > Users to inspect a specific account.

3. Prepare a User Profile before generating vouchers so accounts use the intended package.
4. Choose where to run Mikhmon: a local computer, your own server, or Mikhmon Pro.

**Pro tip.** Create a dedicated RouterOS group with minimal permissions (read, write, api, sensitive) instead of sharing root admin credentials with Mikhmon.

## Mikhmon, Mikhmon Pro, and Mikhmon Online

Mikhmon V3 is the original application by Laksa19. Mikhmon Pro is the service at mikhmon.pro offering V3 and the V5 interface. Mikhmon Online describes hosting it on a server, rather than another application version.

A local installation is available while its computer and application server are running. Hosting moves the application to a managed server; your router, internet access, and VPN route still need to work.

## What happens when you close Mikhmon?

Accounts already created remain on the router. Closing a Mikhmon tab does not turn off the router or delete vouchers. You cannot manage accounts through an application whose server is offline.
